We have been busy!

I have a ton of cleaning to do tonight so while my pictures are uploading on here I'll be running around making my house look like a home and sipping wine. I'm sure you really needed to know that! This weekend was like Christmas for me. Our carpets were installed in our 2 bedrooms and hallway and playroom and our bathroom tile is in  AND we found a mirror for the bathroom. Let's take a look:

Playroom with carpeting and a huge pink bookshelf:
Unfinished book shelf left behind

Overwhelmingly pink

Playroom!

Book shelf looks happy in here.

It's starting to come together nicely.
All I've been doing at the new house is painting. Here is the bay window that was originally going to only have the frame around it painted white.
I decided to paint the whole thing white!

Guess what I'll be doing on Sunday.
Looking good! Now only if we could find a floor sander to rent then we can have all that business done and the trim put up already!

Here is the hallway all carpeted up:

I'm thinking about making a roman shade in the hallway window with this fabric:
or this:
I'd really like to splurge and get one of these Ikat designs by Robert Allen:

Right now I'm leaning more toward the first one but I still need to run it by Josh, after all it is his house too!

Master BR carpeted and ready to go and I cannot wait to sleep in here!:

Sadie's room (Don't mind all the little things. We are slowly moving in small stuff and starting to measure out and hang things). I think she will love it:
We will be moving the light to the DR after the floors are finished. I'm also thinking about spray painting that pink clock to a bright white rather than the pink I chose.

I really need to paint those closet walls. Someday...
I think I'd like to get this light, from Ikea, for her room:
And here's the bathroom. We just have to finish painting the closet door and hang a few things then it's done:

This mirror was on clearance for $30 @ home depot!

We have one of those eco pottys! Special buttons for pee and poop!
Still deciding on a fabric for the roman shade in this room. It needs to match our shower curtain. Here it is in our current home:
Here are a list of small projects that I need to get done:
- Finish painting front door if we get another warm day
- Make template to hang embroidery hoops over crib like this:
- Make prints to hang in LR/DR
- Scrape paint off stair risers and re paint (ugh more painting!)
- DIY a cover for over wall AC unit
- Paint mirror for Sadie's room
- Hang pictures/shelving in rooms
- Pack stuff
- Move all the junk out of the kitchen so we can start ripping out floors

And those are just the little things! It's a lot of work making a house a home!

Happy {the} Holiday's {are over}!

I know, I know. It's been awhile. We have been working in between all the holiday festivities. As much as I loved seeing our baby girl experience her first Christmas and New Years and seeing family, I am so over the holidays!

All walls on the main floor are painted. Walls include: Playroom, Kitchen, LR/DR & Hallway, Office, Main Bath, Master BR, Baby Room and Hallway to BR's. Almost all the trim to all of those rooms/sections is painted! I just need to touch up a few spots tomorrow. Here are some pics (please excuse the mess):

Kitchen so far. Hopefully we will be ripping out flooring and tiling soon. Cannot wait for the new counter tops and tile back splash. Josh thinks the oak cabinets will look fine once everything is done but I have a plan to paint them on spring break-oh and we are going to rip out that scallop-y piece over the sink. YUCKO!.

This is how it looked when we bought the house:

Main bathroom. The floors will be all tiled and finished tomorrow! Say bye bye to that potty! Still on the hunt for an affordable mirror...the perfect mirror. I know we will find it.:

Master BR with trim painted Carpets get installed this Friday!:

From MBR to Hallway

Hallway Painted:
Sadie's Room (The light is going to be moved to the DR). Still working on hanging things and carpet comes Friday!:

LR/DR Trim I just started today (around bay window and door):

Don't even talk to me about painting the entire bay window white. Maybe this summer.
The office is painted (I forget the paint color name but it's a very blueish gray):

The Hubbs painted floor of our future mudroom (still need to do the edges). This is when you walk into the basement. The door ahead goes outside. Door on right goes to family room and door on left to garage.
Well, it's not a great picture but it's an improvement from the ugly green!
Close up

Family room (currently our project room) and yes, we painted it a really dark gray with greenish undertones. And yes, we love it!:
Rec room got some painting done:

I'll have a ton to post after this weekend. We will have our carpeting installed in BRs/hallway/playroom, main bathroom tiled, all trim done, wall hangings hung and small stuff moved in. Next we start the KITCHEN! I cannot freakin' wait!!!

Here is a quick post on the trim situation. We are painting all the trim in our house white. Ambitious! Here is the baby's room so far...

The room when we bought the house. Eek!

That's all for now. Merry Christmas - Happy Holidays!

A lot has happened over the past few weekends!
I'm going to start with the LR/DR area that we I almost finished painting:

LR Before

LR During- Paint color Benjamin Moore (Color matched to Olympic ONE) in Sandyhook Gray
Still need to paint wooden trim to white

I ripped all the carpet, tack strips and thousands of staples off the steps
Need to sand all that icky glue off and paint risers. Oh - and we need a banister!
DR During- Paint is same as LR. The front door is still in the process of being painted, it's Valspar's Jazzclub Blue.

Notice we broke up the tile path as well. We are still keeping a bit in front of the door though.
Here is the process of the Front door:
Before. Sorry for the mess. Once spring comes we have a ton of outdoor work to do!
1st coat

1st coat with all white filled in

2nd coat (still wet here). Still needs a 3rd!
That's it for the LR/DR. The kitchen walls were painted but we still need to do the trim and everything else.
sneak peek at color. Saybrook Sage
Our new fridge came! It's hanging out in the playroom until we tile the floors.
That's it for the kitchen. We did work in the main bathroom. We originally used the color in our master BR (which is a grey with purple undertones) and we added white to tint it a bit. We looked at the walls and then each other and decided a purple bathroom is a no go. Josh picked out Olympic Silver Dollar:
Still need to paint trim.
We got a new vanity top and faucet!

We are going to get a new mirror eventually.
We also started painting the office, BR trim and family room (no pic yet sorry):
Office

White trim.
That pretty much sums it up for now. We won't get much done this Holiday weekend but have a wonderful Holiday and enjoy!

it's a !@#$ ing steal

I was flipping through a Crate and Barrel catalogue one day and came across this:
And it was like the angels were singing. I had to have this! I showed it to Josh and he also liked it very much. This is the Sloane Leaning Wine Bar Bookcase and it's only about $580 ($550 on sale). OUCH!

Then one day I was looking through a lakeside collection catalogue and saw this:
And it's only about $90 and I was like what the !@#$!!! So we are probably totally going to get this. It's a steal! I know it's not as good of quality and the C & B one is more stream lined, yadda-yadda-yadda, but it's much more budget friendly! I LOVE me a bargain!
